KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended its first trading session in negative territory on Friday, erasing earlier gains after significant volatility during intraday trading.

At one point, the benchmark KSE-100 Index surged by over 700 points, reaching an intraday high of 182,185 points. However, the momentum could not sustain, and the index later dropped sharply, falling below key psychological levels.

During trading, the index lost multiple support levels and slid to an intraday low of around 178,400 points. By the close of the session, the KSE-100 had declined by 2,858 points, settling at 178,539 points.

Market activity remained strong, with approximately 600 million shares traded, valued at around Rs29 billion.

In the previous session, the market had closed on a positive note, gaining 887 points to settle at 181,398 points.

Meanwhile, in the interbank market, the Pakistani rupee remained relatively stable against the US dollar, which was trading at around Rs278.26.
